Harrow Club W10 – Emergency Contingency Provision Outline
Following a temporary closure of our building and youth provisions on Tuesday 17 March, our Trustees and staff team have been finding ways to continue supporting our members, during this time of social distancing, as well as contributing to the wider community volunteering effort in alleviating the consequences that are unfolding in this health emergency.
Our response will be guided by three key considerations:
- Following Government and public Health England advice and rules
- Following our own risk assessment in keeping the young people, families and our staff and volunteers as safe as possible, especially those with health conditions of in a demographic deemed at elevated risk from Covid-19
- Providing provision within the financial and resource means of the organisation, which are likely to deteriorate over the coming months due to a loss of building hire revenue and community event income
We envisage that normal provision may not be able to resume for many months and therefore we are setting out short- and medium-term plans to contribute to our aims and charitable objectives.
Short-term (moving forward for the next few weeks)
- Offering our building for wider community use/council use.
- Distributing food we receive to local food banks and signposting our families in need to them
- Offering advice and guidance to our members on the phone and online including signposting to other key services, facilitating group discussion and online activities and offering one-to-one confidential support.
Medium-term (May to June onwards dependent on the health situation )
- Working with others to undertake detached street work working with children and young people who are not engaged in any support services
- Providing outdoor sports and games
- Providing limited in-door provision, including a late-night safe space to reduce ASB/criminality
Our response is continually developing in this unprecedented situation and the best way to stay updated is to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Stay safe and please follow the key health advice to Stay Home unless you are shopping for essentials or medicine or exercising once a day. Please keep your distance from others you don’t live with to avoid spreading this deadly virus further.
Best Wishes to you and your Family
Harrow Club W10 Management Team
